Abstract

In this paper, the electromagnetic properties of patch antennas with a ring-shaped open resonator based on various dielectric base (substrate) materials were electromagnetically modeled and analyzed. The study was conducted on the bases of FR-4, Aluminum oxide, PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene Teflon), RO4000 and Rogers RT/duroid® 5880. The parameters of the electromagnetic compatibility Voltage standing wave ratio and refraction coefficient of the antennas were simulated in the CST Studio program. As a result, the antennas built on the basis of PTFE and Rogers materials showed the lowest return coefficient and improved electromagnetic compatibility, which confirms the feasibility of their use in high-frequency microwave systems. In the second stage of the work, a ring-shaped open resonator metamaterial was applied to the antenna based on this base and the results were obtained. These results prove that metamaterials can be used to improve antenna devices.
